Horoscope is popularly known as ‘astrological chart' or ‘astro-chart'. The word horoscope is derived from Greek word meaning “look at the hours". A horoscope is a chart or diagram representing the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, the astrological aspects, and sensitive angles at the time of an event, such as the moment when a human being is born. In common usage, horoscope often refers to an astrologer's interpretation, usually through a system of Sun sign astrology or based on calendar significance of an event. Other commonly used names for the horoscope in English which include celestial map, sky-map, star-chart, Cosmo gram, vita sphere, radical chart, radix, chart wheel, or simply chart. The horoscope serves as a stylized map of the heavens over a specific location at a particular moment in time. The positions of the actual planets including Sun and Moon are placed in the chart, along with those of purely calculated factors such as the lunar nodes, the house cusps including the Midheaven and the ascendant, zodiac signs, fixed stars and the lots. The Midheaven or Medium Coeli is the zenith of a path in the sky traced by the point of intersection between the ecliptic and the Meridian of a certain terrestrial location. Many newspapers and magazines carry predictive columns based on celestial influences in relation to the one's zodiacal placement of the Sun on the day of a person's birth, identifying the individual's Sun sign or "star sign" based on a conventional zodiac, which is not the celestial one. Such a concept is distinct from horoscopes as typically employed, where only the traditional zodiacal placement of the Sun is considered in interpretation. There are four primary angles in the horoscope. The angles are the four Cardinal points of an astrological chart; they are the Ascendant, the Midheaven, the Descendant and the Imum Coeli. To create a horoscope, an astrologer first has to ascertain the exact time and place of the individuals birth, or the initiation of an event. Some individuals to extent relate horoscope to the day to day activities, while for others horoscopes may an activity that would before hand show the details of their near future. But for others it may be just an entertainment or hobby to read their horoscope on daily basis.
