Tunisia is the smallest country in the region and make up the Northwest corner of Africa. It has an area of 163,610 sq. Km and has a population of 9,600,000. Tunisia has abundant reserves of natural gas and oil. They speak languages such as French and Arabic. The currency of this country is called Tunisian Dollar. Farming is made possible by irrigation projects and which is still important in this region. Souk or market is a tangle of narrow streets flanked by open fronted stalls. Here, people can buy anything from food to carpets or hand-made jewellery.
The staple food of Tunisia is granules of semolina called Couscous. It is served with a meat a meat or vegetable and the people like their food to be spicy.
