We are what we eat, our bodies get the energy and nourishment they need from our daily diet. Not having enough of the right food, or eating too much of the wrong food, causes ill- health. Anything humans can digest counts as food. Food habits are influenced by availability, climate, and religious, moral, or social factors. Food is any substance eaten to provide nutritional support for the body; ideally, a daily diet should include staple, energy-giving carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins. Food for humans is mostly made through farming or gardening, and includes animal and vegetable sources. Food can make people sick if it is contaminated by micro-organisms, heavy metals, or chemicals. Many cultures or religions have food taboos. That means they have rules what people should not eat, or how the food has to be prepared. Food shortage is still a big problem in the world today. Many people do not have enough money to buy the food that they need.
