Restaurant is a “dinning establishment', where they prepare and serve food, drink and dessert to customers. Restaurants greatly vary in appearance and offerings, including a wide variety of cuisines and service models. Restaurants catered to different styles of cuisine, price brackets, and religious requirements. A restaurant owner is called a restaurateur; both words derive from the French verb restaurer, meaning "to restore". The professionals who are specialized in cooking are called ‘chefs'. Many restaurants also offer take-out and home delivery services. Modern restaurants are businesses oriented to the serving of food, and where specific dishes are ordered by the customers and generally prepared according to their orders. Inns and taverns were known from antiquity, these were establishments aimed at travellers, where in general locals would rarely visit to dine there. Generally speaking, restaurants selling food characteristic of the local culture are simply called restaurants, while restaurants selling food of foreign cultural origin are called accordingly, for example, a Chinese restaurant and a French restaurant.
