United States of America discovered this country. Liberia is situated in the western part of Africa and lies between latitudes 4o and 9o N and longitude 7o and 12o W. Liberians staple food is rice. Okra and sweet potatoes are the vegetables. About 5 percent are American settlers and the rest being a varied mix of ethnic groups. Almost every Liberian work on their lands growing coffee, cocoa, oil palms, and rubber for exporting. Monrovia is the wettest city and the capital city of Liberia. It is the city with majority of ports. The languages spoken by the people in these areas are English, Gola, Kissi, Kpelle, Bassa, Vai, Grebo and Kru.
